Liberty Roots Photography isn't about getting the "right" angle. It's about finally seeing yourself the way you deserved to all along. This is confidence you didn't fake — you found it, standing barefoot in the grass, letting the camera catch what you've been hiding for years. This is body positivity without the buzzwords: your stretch marks, your softness, your scars, your strength — none of it needs fixing, because none of it was ever broken. This is hope, rebuilt one shutter click at a time, for the woman who forgot what she looked like when she wasn't holding her breath. And this is liberation — real, earned, liberation — the moment you stop shrinking and start standing exactly as you are, unapologetic, alive and finally, fully seen.
I stumbled across Liberty Photography through my online success. Jen kept urging me — "come to a shoot." I made excuses dressed up as confidence. Truth was, I didn't know how to be sexy.
One September morning, I finally caved. Sat in the car park, visibly shaking, trying to dig up some fuck-yeah confidence I didn't have.
Then our eyes met. Electric. Instant safety. She guided me, laughed with me, and the quivering wreck from the car park disappeared.
That day we made art. I drove home on cloud fifty-nine, believing I could do anything.
What grew after wasn't dramatic — just steady, real. A friendship that captured every step of me becoming who I was always meant to be.
I built a successful career in comedy under the name Knee Deep In Life. Books, stages, hundreds of faces looking back at me — and still, something was missing. I was completely detached from what I actually wanted from my own life. What did success even look like to me? Turns out I was just as clueless as everyone else pretending to have it figured out.
That question wrecked me for a while. But if there was one thread running through every joke, every piece of content, every version of me that showed up — it was mental health, female liberation, and empowerment. That was never up for debate.
I've always been magnetised by women. The shape of them. The way they move. That gentle smile when they're really listening to someone. The way they hold themselves like they're bracing for something, even when they don't realise it. I watched woman after woman walk into a shoot with Jen, founder of Liberty Photography, and come out the other side transformed — right in front of my eyes. Watching that shift happen, being trusted enough to witness it — that's not just a nice thing to see. That's magnificent.
Photography's been quietly obsessing me since I was a kid. It followed me into adulthood — snapping arty shots of my own kids, then nature, always trying to paint a picture, not just take one. I wanted people to feel the moment, not just see it.
So when I put the two together — this pull toward women, and this hobby that had been living on my phone camera the whole time — it just clicked. It was time to stop keeping them separate. Time to build something that gives back. Something that actually lasts. Something nourishing, instead of just noise.
I realised where I needed to be was in nature surrounded by women ready to start their own journey and watch them bloom.
I began to blossom into someone I had never been before. Shedding all the old conditioning and becoming who I was always meant to be.
I then started coming back for more, daring to strip a little further.
This was my first ever shoot, the one where I showed up terrified. I started in clothes...
The company flatlined, and I almost walked away. But in that stillness, clarity arrived.
We chose to scale back, to breathe, to come home to what mattered most.
We scaled quickly and took on too much, learning the hard way that bigger isn’t always better.
The moment Laura met Jo, she knew — this wasn't just a hire, it was a hell yes. As the newest member to Liberty Roots, Jo brings a warmth that's impossible to miss. Kind, caring, and gentle in every interaction, she has this quiet way of making you feel completely safe — like you can breathe out and just be.
That gentleness isn't softness without substance, though. It's the steady hand that guides you through every stage of the process, meeting you exactly where you are and walking beside you as you step into your own power. With Jo in your corner, there's no rushing, no judgment — just genuine care and a presence that says you're safe here, and I've got you.
She's here for the women stepping into their journey of self-discovery, and she brings the kind of heart every elite squad needs.
